When Google Doesn’t Know You

Today there was no time for riding – I had to make sure Google can find my blog.

Motorcycling means freedom, speed, and being in the moment for many of us. That’s how it is for me too. But today… not a single kilometer was ridden. Instead, I spent hours in front of the screen wrestling with the soul of my blog – also known as search engine optimization and Google Search Console.

It all started with an innocent observation:
🧐 “Hey, why doesn’t my site show up on Google even though I did the SEO right?”

And so it began.

  • Checked the robots.txt file. It looked correct – but Google saw the old one.
  • Yoast SEO showed a different version than public_html.
  • I dove into files, caches, Site Kit, Tag Managers, and sitemap URLs.
  • Eventually realized that Search Console was still linked to an old preview site – and not to the new domain at all.

In between, I probably cleared the cache three times, rebooted my brain, and almost grabbed my helmet just to escape for a moment. 🧰

Then finally came that magical moment:

🟢 “Indexing request sent”
Like headlights turning on in the dark – I was finally visible to Google.

And once everything was done and double-checked, I thought:

“Motorcycling really is easier than maintaining a blog site.”

Still…
Sharing the joy of riding is so rewarding that I spent hours fixing the site with a smile on my face.

So if you ever wonder why your website doesn’t appear on Google – don’t give up. It’s a bit like a motorcycle’s first maintenance: important, sometimes frustrating, but rewarding once the engine roars to life.

🚀 And now that the site works – maybe tomorrow I’ll have time to ride.
Or at least write about it.

📣 P.S. If someone searches for me on Google – hopefully they’ll find me now. 😅
